Procurement of Company and Sector Analysis on Environmental, Social, Governance And Ethical Issues, Including Advisory Services

The four funds have together established the Ethical Council where a common value position has been formulated. The common thread within these documents is the ethical policies of the Swedish Government, which are expressed through the international conventions signed by the State of Sweden. These conventions constitute the basis for the ethical and environmental policy of each fund and also the common value position expressed by the Ethical Council.
The objective with the Ethical Council is to co-operate regarding engagement on environmental, social and ethical issues with non-Swedish based companies, where each fund has relatively small holdings and where a common platform is deemed more efficient.
The co-objective with this procurement is to supply the Ethical Council with qualified information and analysis regarding company behavior and strategy in order to ensure that the limited resources of the Ethical Council are used efficiently and addresses the most important issues. The Funds invest in Swedish and global portfolios that contain up to 4000 securities.
The following are included in the work procedures of the individual funds:
For all asset classes (equities, listed and unlisted, bonds, farmland, timber, real estate, infrastructure, commodities, hedge funds) – raw data, indicators and analysis regarding environmental, social and governance issues, focusing on aspects such as strategic planning, quality of policy, management systems, implementation, reporting, and verification and in what way this could influence the valuation of the company and its risks and opportunities in regards to value creation.
The following are included in the work procedures of the Ethical Council:
Systematic monitoring of company related incidents regarding environmental, social and ethical issues that can associate the company to violations of international conventions or to violations of the UN Global Compact or the OECD Guidelines for multinational companies or UN and EU embargos: all of the Funds holdings are reviewed.
Company related analysis regarding environmental, social and ethical issues, focusing on aspects such as quality of policy, management systems, implementation, reporting and verification.
Sector and theme analysis regarding environmental, social and ethical issues.
Advice and support regarding dialogue with companies related to environmental, social and ethical issues.
