Bio CHP Carpe Futurum
Vattenfall has the ambition to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions related to power and heat production.
Together with the ambition of the City of Uppsala to generate their need for District Heating by the year of 2020 on a CO2 neutral basis, a project has been established to replace the existing peat fired CHP plant with a plant based on biomass fuels.
This new plant will be erected close to or on the premises of Vattenfall in Uppsala. It is Vattenfall's intention to use virgin biomass as the fuel to be fired in the boiler. This fuel can be a mixture of Agricultural Derived Fuel (ADF), tops and branches of trees (GROT), bark, sawdust, willow, stumps and stemwood. The project will include all works for fuel preparation, storage, boiler, steam turbine and generator, flue gas cleaning and residual handling.
The permit preparation and application is in process and will include compliance to current BREF's for large combustion plants.
