Body composition analyser for mouse and rat
Invitation.
The University of Gothenburg invites you to submit a tender for a body composition analyzer for measurement of fat, lean tissue and free water content in conscious mouse and rat as well as in organ and tissue sample.
Background and scope.
The tender is for a body composition analyzer (BCA) using quantitative magnetic resonance technique.
Main purpose of the equipment:
To measure whole body composition parameters such as fat mass, lean mass and free water content in non-anesthetized mice and rats as well as in tissue samples and organs.
The equipment will be run both during normal working days as well as weekends and holidays. High demands are placed on measurements repeatability and reproducibility, low analyzing time, user-friendliness, flexible placement of the equipment and service of the equipment.

About the Centre for Physiology and Bio-Imaging.
The Centre for Physiology and Bio-Imaging (CPI) is a Core Facility within the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. At CPI modern physiological and bio-imaging techniques are used to characterize mice and rats as models for human disease. Different types of projects such as basic research, patent project and pharmaceutical drug testing are performed. The primary areas of analyses are behaviour (basic and feeding behaviour, activity, memory and learning), metabolism (energy demand, training, body composition, glucose metabolism), cardiovascular (blood pressure, endothelial function, heart function) as well as bio-imaging methods (ultrasound, DEXA).
The facility is open for all academic researchers and also for researchers from biotech companies.
