Invitation to tender
Karolinska Institutet, hereinafter called KI, invites companies, hereinafter called Tenderers, to submit tenders concerning enzymatic DNA amplification.
Karolinska Institutet, KI
Karolinska Institutet (KI) is one of the world’s leading medical universities. Our vision is to advance knowledge about life and strive towards better health for all. Karolinska Institutet accounts for the single largest share of all academic medical research conducted in Sweden and offers the country’s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences. The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet selects the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine. For additional information, please visit

Background to the procurement
The Linnarsson Lab (KI) at the Department of Medical Biophysics and Biochemistry studies brain development and brain architecture using single-cell analysis, live imaging and spatial transcriptomics. We are developing synthetic DNA vectors for gene therapy. Generating enough DNA requires amplification which is traditionally achieved by harnessing bacteria, a method that has the drawback of potentially triggering immunity in humans. To circumvent this, KI want to amplify DNA without the use of bacteria or other cells, using fully synthetic, enzymatic DNA amplification.
