Support to standardisation of antimicrobial susceptibility testing and development of clinical breakpoints for surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in Europe
The main aim of the project will be to continue and further develop an expert guidance consultancy service based on a European network of existing national antimicrobial susceptibility testing committees (NACs) including all EU/EEA Member States, and EU candidate and potential candidate countries; to determine epidemiological cut-off values for early detection of resistance development and for cross-border comparison of antimicrobial resistance; to harmonise existing national clinical antimicrobial breakpoints and susceptibility testing methods in Europe through a systematic inter-committee collaboration in coordination with ECDC and other EU agencies and reference laboratories working on surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic pathogens and food safety.
