Liquid handling station
Drug optimization and pharmaceutical profiling, as carried out at UDOPP, typically includes determination of physicochemical properties, metabolism, permeability and transport, which is measured in vitro in biological or cellular systems. Additionally, UDOPP performs bioanalysis of samples, e.g. blood, plasma or tissue homogenates, from in vivo animal studies. Due to the increased requests of pharmaceutical profiling within Swedish and European academic collaborations we now have a need to increase our capacity, which necessitates purchasing of a new state-of-the art liquid handling station to enable automation of assays. As we intend to automate several methods important for drug optimization and pharmaceutical profiling, initially assays such as solubility, plasma protein binding, metabolic stability and permeability; the liquid handling system needs to a have degree of flexibility.
