The objective of this contract is to provide career development opportunities on applied epidemiology topics to support capacity building efforts in prevention and control of communicable diseases in Europe, addressing senior professionals working in this area in the public health systems of the European Union, EEA/EFTA and EU enlargement countries. It is expected that the project will strengthen collaboration between experts in the event of public health threats or outbreaks that affect more than 1 country. At the same time, one priority target will be the supervisors of the European programme on intervention epidemiology training (EPIET) and the European programme for public health microbiology training (Euphem). Any public health professional dealing with prevention and control of communicable diseases and capacity building at the country level is considered the target audience.
This will be achieved through the use of self-learning modules and face-to-face training; the curriculum should be designed and delivered by the selected contractor(s). For this purpose ECDC will make available upon signature of the contract the respective curriculum and training material already available from previous courses in the respective topic and the contractor will need to consider them when preparing the updated/revised version and training materials.
