377089 — AI884740 Tactical Ground Radio System
The Tactical Ground Radio (TGR) system will support tactical mobile communications within and between Battalions. It will replace legacy CNR systems and offer new capabilities.
The TGR system will provide seamless wireless IP communication between mobile nodes within a Battalion, between Battalions and with the existing mobile and fast deployable IP network (MKN).
The main services are:
— IP based data capacity to support Battle Management System (BMS) data service.
— Multiple IP based voice groups (based on IP traffic) within a Battalion.
The TGR system is an integrated part of BMS, which also consists of:
— The Command & Control system SLB, used for sharing the common operational picture and give orders and status updates within a Battalion.
— The IP data crypto device PGAI/PGFI, used for securing the BMS information.
— The IP based voice crypto device Soldier Node, used for securing tactical voice group communication.
— The mobile router KomNod, which forms an intranet within a vehicle binding different subsystems (SLB, Soldier Node etc.) with the external communication systems.
— Other subsystems exist and are described in the Technical Specification.
Three radio OBJECTs have been identified for the TGR system:
OBJECT 1: 1-Channel Soldier Radio (mainly for dismounted use)
OBJECT 2: 1-Channel Mounted Radio
OBJECT 3: 2-Channel Mounted Radio
The approach is that the TGR has two waveforms:
— A wideband waveform (WB) supporting BMS data services and voice sessions over multiple RF hops.
— A narrowband waveform (NB) offering extended range supporting transfer of voice and low rate data.
