Surveillance of mosquito vectors in Europe: ECDC guidelines for the surveillance of native mosquitoes
ECDC wishes to produce guidelines for the surveillance of native mosquito vectors of human diseases, in order to improve and harmonise the collection of data needed for appropriate response to outbreak threats. The guidelines shall provide Member States with comprehensive and practical information collected through systematic reviews, to assist them in implementing native mosquito surveillance. Based on the same structure as the current ECDC guidelines for the surveillance of invasive mosquito vectors, the new guidelines will broaden the scope of ECDC guidelines for surveillance of mosquitoes of public health interest in Europe. In a longer perspective these 2 ECDC guidelines should ensure a comprehensive coverage of surveillance activities within Europe and help to provide comparable and timely information about both native and invasive mosquito vectors.
