Analysing the effects of the current economic downturn on HIV among injecting drug users in the EU/EEA

To guide disease control priority setting under tight budgetary circumstances, it is important to better understand the recent impact of the economic crisis on HIV risk behaviours and case reports among specific at-risk groups, particularly PWID. The scope of this project is to assess factors influencing HIV risk behaviours and case reports among PWID and to develop an analytic model to describe the impact of the financial crisis (whether positive or negative) on such PWID population size, risk behaviours and case reports.
